Hotel Penrallt West Wales
Map of Wales

Celebrated for magnificent beaches, known as one of few last bastions of the Welsh language, West Wales offers some of the finest Holiday accommodations along this colorful side of the Irish Sea. The coastal city of Aberystwyth and harbour towns breathe life into the land, filled with gracious people of profound maritime legends. While mostly rural, sites of vast historical value had originated in this region.

Ceredigion, or "Land of Ceredig", was once ruled by the king Ceredig in mid-west Wales then reconstituted in 1996. Today as a coastal county, it spans over 440,630 acres (1,783 sq km) with a population of approximately seventy five thousand. For a territory of such scarce population, it offers some incredibly fascinating places, all with proper travel accommodations within reach.

A principle resort city of Ceredigion and known as a university town, Aberystwyth nestles itself between three glorious hills and two magnificent beaches. It is home to University of Wales Aberystwyth and the National Library. Thousands of scholars keep the city vibrant and hospitable all year long, and the abundance of friendly pubs light up the nights.

Merely yards away from the water, the Aberystwyth Castle remains still overwhelm the skyline approached from the south. Originally built by a Welsh, Llywelyn the Great, the castle once ranked among the greatest in all of Wales.
Due to tear and wear, the castle today has lost its strategic value to the monarchy, though it still provides a feint image of finesse it once held.

Another site of rich historical remains, the Strata Florida Abbey monastery has its roots via a group of Whitland Abbey monks of the Cistercian Order. It presently serves as the burial place of at minimum eleven Princes of the Welsh Royal house Deheubarth during 12th and 13th centuries. Remnants of Welsh language poet, Dafydd ap Gwilym, rest nearby the Abbey Church Monument, next to a Yew tree.

A little village known as Devil's Bridge holds a three level bridge of identical name; it stands above the river of Afon Mynach. Legend has it that the devil had built the original bottom level as it proved too difficult for human architecture. In return, "he" demanded the soul of the first life to cross the bridge, which unfortunately befell a dog.

Just next to Ceredigion, Cardigan Bay West Wales offers white sand beaches and tranquil cerulean sea as one of the deluxe coastlines of Britain. Surrounded by fertile lands, plenty of towns and seaside resorts cater to visitor comforts. The soothing sun, the gentle breeze accompanied by soft resonance of the waters present a novel impression of paradise.

West Wales holds rich history, remarkable people, and welcoming atmosphere. With the area dotted with hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, Holiday Cottages, and the first-rate restaurants serve up best of local cuisines; sightseers have easy and swift access to tourist accommodations.. Great place. Great people. Great touring.
