Welcome to Wales' best-kept secret, Ceredigion. Within a short distance from Craig-y-Nos there are plenty of tiny coves and beaches reached at the end of narrow little lanes. It is off the beaten track and there are an abundance of places to explore. It is a world apart from the places that are widely advertised and thus offers the exclusivity of the "road less travelled". Here you can take a gentle meander along the coastal paths discovering the abundant flora and fauna that is well protected by the National Trust.

Craig-y-Nos is well located to explore the numerous beaches and coves that run along the coastline. All of Cardigan Bay and its surrounds are protected by the National Trust and Aberporth, Tresaith and New Quay beaches have all gained the coveted EU's Blue Flag for meeting the highest environmental standards.

Rooms

The bed linen is to the highest standards and is made of 100% cotton. We provide feather duvets and feather pillows as standard but can offer alternatives if necessary. Many of our rooms overlook the well-tended garden and fish pond with views overlooking fields and meadows. There is no road within view from the back of the house, and apart from the odd tractor, there is no traffic noise at all.

We welcome children but do not, as much as we love them, allow animals to stay.

Craig-y-Nos has beautiful gardens and when the weather permits we encourage our guests to take breakfast outside. We offer evening meals and snacks on request.

Out and About

Craig-y-Nos makes an excellent base for exploring less well-known beaches and coves. One of our favourites is Mwnt (Green Coast Award). There is the ancient croft church that stands above a peaceful almost hidden beach. Apart from a seasonal shop there is no commerce and it is a truly unspoilt place that is often devoid of any other visitors. Other local beaches within 3 or 4 miles of Craig-y-Nos include Tresaith (EU Blue Flag) and Penbryn (Green Coast Award).

For the more adventurous there is Cardigan Island that can be reached by boat. It is a protected nature reserve that has a colony of Atlantic Grey Seals and its Coastal Farm accommodates a variety of unusual animals. It is an extremely popular trip for children and the Coastal Farm has an adventure playground. Cardigan Bay is famous for its resident population of Bottle-nosed Dolphins and those who take the trip to Cardigan Island sometimes catch a glimpse of them racing the boat.

There are all sorts of local cottage industries including local farm shops that sell organic, individually produced food. There is also an abundance of local artists and craftsmen and women who sell work inspired by the dramatic local scenery. You can arrange to buy direct from the artist or there is a wonderful shop in Chancery Lane in Cardigan called Custom House. Whatever you decide to do we very much hope that you will enjoy your stay with us.
