Hafod
Bed and Breakfast in Anglesey
Welcome-Croeso!
"Special"... "Outstanding"... "Beautiful" are
only some of the comments repeatedly used by guests to describe
Hafod. Hafod
is an impressive Edwardian house set in well established attractive
gardens with superb sea and mountain views.
Having bought the property in 1998, Hugh and Ann
Astley started an extensive refurbishment programme to bring Hafod
back to its former glory. The large oak dog leg stairs, the unique
stained glass windows, high ceilings, sumptuous carpets and furnishings,
fine antique
furniture and period fireplaces are only some of the features that
make a visit to Hafod unforgettable.
Accommodation at Hafod is offered four comfortable
and attractive rooms. Most rooms have en-suite facilities and panoramic
views of the sea. All rooms have central heating, a colour television,
hospitality tray and hair dryers.
Breakfast is served in the lovely dining room which
is furnished with Welsh antique furniture. Start the day with a
traditional breakfast - a choice of cereals, fruit juice and grapefruit,
a full Welsh breakfast followed by toast and home made marmalade.
You may choose to sit by the large
window which overlooks the garden or on the long 16th century refectory
table. In the evenings, when it is too cool to sit out in the garden,
relax with the family in the exquisite lounge with its selection
of books and board games.
Hugh
and Ann Astley are Welsh speaking and are very experienced
in welcoming guests from far and wide. They ensure
a friendly and homely atmosphere. Ann is renowned for her traditional
fayre and is a well known adjudicator of cookery in local shows.
Hafod is the perfect base for a holiday
in Anglesey. It is both extremely convenient and private. It
is within
walking distance to the shops, bowling green, tennis courts, beach
and bus stop. The spacious
grounds and lawns at Hafod were originally the local bowling green.
Now, guests are welcome to relax in the beautiful garden.
For those who do not wish to travel far, the long sandy beach
at Benllech is clean and safe while the public footpaths
along the
cliffs are most enjoyable. The coast around nearby Moelfre and
its lifeboat is steep in nautical history. Traeth Bychan is only
a mile away and is very popular with those who participate in
sailing and water sports. Avid walkers and cyclists will
be pleased to
know that there are drying facilities for wet clothes and boots,
secure lockable areas for bikes and adequate storage space for
rucksacks.
Guests are provided with a choice of useful literature
on many places of interest on the island and the mainland e.g.
National Trust houses: Penrhyn Castle and Plas Newydd,
The famous Caernarfon and Beaumaris castles and Gaol,
The Butterfly Farm at Pili Palas,
The Sea Zoo at Brynsiencyn,
Trips up Snowdon and the Slate museum at
Llanberis
Foel Farm Park and the excellent Taly Foel
Riding Centre..........
