Porthmadog Holiday Let Cerregfelen sleeps 10 with 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms near Porthmadog. It is a unique, secluded 14th Century manor house set in a private country estate on the edge of Snowdonia, close to Black Rock Beach.
The famous visionary architect, Clough Williams-Ellis, whose Italianate village, Portmeirion, is close by, extended the house in the 1920's. Clough also designed the lovely terraced garden, with its miniature topiary and ancient oak woods. Carregfelen has a wonderful feel to it, with oak floors and ancient beams; children will love exploring the staircases and corridors!
The cosy sitting room, with its inglenook fireplace and log burning fire has comfortable chairs and settles. The splendid dining room, with antique oak refectory table and family memorabilia, is reminiscent of a medieval hall. The modern kitchen is equipped with electric oven and grill, 5-ring gas hob, dishwasher and kitchen table with wooden stools. Traditional pantry with fridge, fridge-freezer and microwave. Downstairs loo and wash hand basin. A few steps take you up to the top sitting room/playroom with sofa and comfortable chairs, open fireplace, toy box and masses of books. There is a T.V., DVD player, Sky Freeview and Wireless Broadband throughout. From this room through to double bedroom and twin bedroom. Contemporary bathroom with bath and shower over, loo and hand wash basin. Utility Room with washing machine, tumble drier and Belfast sink.
Upstairs to master bedroom with king sized bed and en-suite bathroom. A further two bedrooms 4 beds and one with twin beds. The larger of these rooms has fantastic views to Moel y Gest. Contemporary shower room with loo and hand wash sink and a further bathroom with bath, hand wash sink and separate toilet.
Upstairs to the top level are a further double and twin bedroom with outstanding views of the surrounding mountains.

The Surrounding Area
From the house you can enjoy the very best Wales has to offer,from the extremes of its mountain ranges to the beaches, seaside villages and the numerous splendid historic castles nearby. Kids love the Snowdon Mountain Railway, 14 miles away, and the drive to it is superb. There are numerous other little steam railways close by, such as Blaenau Ffestiniog and Llanberis Lake. The wonderful beaches at Blackrock and Criccieth are both only 1 mile away for bucket and spade holidays and there is sailing and all kinds of water sports at Porthmadog, 2 miles away. The 12th & 13th Century castles of Harlech, Conwy and Caernarfon are not to be missed, nor is a visit to the Portmeirion village. For those wanting to ride, there is ample opportunity to trek in Snowdonia or you can golf at Harlech. There is a wealth of activities to suit everyone and our housekeeper welcomes guests offering them local knowledge on activities, places to eat, shop, walk etc.
